description

Introduction

This Notice is to alert potential suppliers to an early engagement opportunity to assist the DfE in the delivery of an International Relocation Premium payment service to non-UK nationals who have secured a teaching role in a state funded school in England or secured a place on an accredited Initial Teacher Training course in England from Sept 2023. Eligible applicants will be able to apply for a payment to reimburse some of the costs they incurred in moving to the UK to teach or train to teach in England.

Background to the requirement

Teachers from overseas play an important role in our education system and the Secretary of State recently announced our intention to implement a relocation premium payment service to eligible non-UK nationals - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/opportunity-for-all-strong-schools-with-great-teachers-for-your-child

"To make teaching here even more attractive to the best teachers from around the world, we will introduce a new relocation premium to help with visas and other expenses.

This will be complemented by bursaries for international trainees with the potential to be brilliant teachers in priority subjects. By bringing forward legislative changes and introducing a new digital service, we will recognise high-quality teaching qualifications from all over the world in this country."

Outline of requirement

The DfE are looking to deliver a solution that accommodates a number of features to potentially include:

  • Initial query handling
  • Initial eligibility checking
  • End to end application process with validation points against eligibility criteria
  • Notification of outcomes to applicants
  • Payment process
  • Management Information and reporting

Next steps

The DfE will be running an online soft market engagement event during the week commencing 5th September 2022, delivering a presentation of requirements, and would like to hear your views on how you could assist in the delivery of this service.

Following the market engagement event, we will welcome initial feedback and provide an opportunity to discuss the potential options in more detail.

If your organisation is interested in attending the soft market engagement event, please complete the attached Non-disclosure agreement and return to Michael.gaynor@education.gov.uk and we will be in contact with a link to the online event.
