description

The primary aim of T1266 project is to determine the effects of replacing the 'brake force' metric for defining brake performance with 'braked weight percentage' or Lambda for dissemination to the rail freight community. Using a mix real-word data and modelling, it will consider the use of "default" values (based on minimum braking performance requirements described in GMRT2045) compared to actual Lambda values explore possible improvements in freight operations, including improved permissible speeds, pathing and operational reliability.
