Provide a service for patients requiring planned treatment room services and access for wound care services in the community when clinically required on a weekend.
The service will provide routine planned treatment room services on an appointment only basis for patients requiring daily or alternate day treatment room services only including (but not exclusively confined to): Wound Care for patients able to attend a clinic. Dressing service:
- Dressing changes
- Dressings to arterial leg ulcers
- Dressings to venous leg ulcers (for management prior to referral to specialist District Nursing services, the provider must hold the necessary skills and competency to meet this service requirement)
- Cavity Wounds (other wounds which may require a weekend dressing change)
The service will only be available for planned treatment room services where there is a clinical need for the treatment to be undertaken on a weekend. It is expected to include wounds that require daily or alternate day dressings which fall on a weekend and which cannot clinically wait until the following Monday.
