Community Ophthamology Service

Cannock Chase Clinical Commissioning Group, South East Staffordshire and Sesidon Clinical Commissioning Group and Stafford & Surrounds Clinical Commissioning Group wish to award a Standard NHS Contract to Primary Eyecare (Shropshire & Staffs) Ltd to provide a range of community ophthalmology services in the locality areas. The proposed provider is the only provider in the market which is able to contract with all local optometrists in the Cannock, Tamworth, Lichfield, Sesidon and Stafford and Surrounds localities and is supported by the Local Optical Committee.

Commissioners are looking to contract with a federation of local accredited optometrists for all of the above services; the total contract value is circa £150k PA.

Some of the above services are already under contract and will be incorporated into one from the 1st April 2017 and run until 19th July 2019.

In 2015 the Minor Eye Conditions Service was piloted in Stafford & Cannock and went through an open tender process on contracts finder. The proposed provider was the only organisation who tendered for the service who met the service specification criteria, and taken through to an evaluation process.

The proposed provider has been delivering a glaucoma referral refinement service in Stafford & Cannock for over 5 years, with successful outcomes and this will be extended into the South East Staffordshire & Sesidon CCG localities.

The Pre-Op Cataract service has been in place for over 5 years for all of the South Staffordshire CCGs, delivered by the local optometrists.

The proposed provider is the only provider in the market which is able to contract with all local optometrists in the Cannock, Tamworth, Lichfield, Sesidon and Stafford and Surrounds localities and is supported by the Local Optical Committee.
