description
We will be awarding a contract for external roadside and internal ride side vegetation management in South West England. It is expected that this work will be undertaken by a tractor mounted side-arm flail mower or Horizontal Shaft Flail.
The work involves the management of road and rideside vegetation to allow the Forestry Commission to ensure all access is kept open whilst being kept in a beneficial state for wildlife and visually attractive for visitors to the forests. The areas vary greatly in size and operational constraints present but have been represented on a sample map as best as possible for each lot for the purposes of the tender. The sites mapped are indicative of requirements over the lifespan of this contract. However, not all of these sites will need to be worked every year. As such, specific requirements will be identified later in the season which may include any or all of those listed or possibly other locations not identified here. Our intention is to award this contract for a period of one year. There will be an option to extend the contract by up to a further three years – four years in total. This means 1 year + 1 year + 1 year + 1 year. The decision to extend the contract will be based on satisfactory performance in the preceding year and budget availability.
For the purpose of this contract:
Lot 1 = Wiltshire and is managed by Thomas Blythe
Lot 2 = Bristol & Mendips and is managed by Thomas Blythe
Lot 3 = Wyre Block and is managed by Richard Boles
Lot 4 = Worcestershire Other Blocks and is managed by Richard Boles
Lot 5 = Warwickshire and is managed by Richard Boles
It is intended that one Contractor be selected against each Lot on this contract, although the same Contractor may be considered for multiple lots if they can prove their ability to complete all of the work in the allotted timeframe. The Contractor must have sufficient resources to complete the work within the stated contract period.
