description

To undertake all design and build tasks associated with upgrade and refurbishment of the Mare Harbour Ro-Ro Facility for continued use by the Falklands Island Re-Supply (FIRS) Point Class vessel detailed below:

  • To provide Mare Harbour Falkland Islands with a RO-RO facility suitable to cater for berthing, mooring and offloading of the FIRS Point Class vessels.
  • To provide Mare Harbour Falkland Islands with a facility that is capable of supporting Small Boat Operations.

In order to meet these Requirements, the Works to be executed under this Contract shall include, but not be limited to, the design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning and remedying of defects of the following items:

Works including, amongst other requirements:

Provision of a quay structure to act as a berthing face for the safe berthing of the FIRS Point Class RO-RO vessels
Provision of supporting quay structures for mooring points to enable safe mooring
Provision of pedestrian access gangways between the existing T-head jetty, the mooring points and the berthing face
Provision of Fendering and mooring equipment, and safety equipment
Minor repair to the quay face at the stern ramp for the RO-RO
Cathodic protection to all existing sheet piled structures (including the T-head jetty), where these are retained for use in the facility
Provision of a new small boats jetty comprising a pontoon on piled moorings and a linkspan, to support small boat operations
Associated M&E services
Demolition and disposal of existing structures where these are not re-used

The design must consider the significant logistical and environmental constraints which are present at operational ports. The requirement is for a 25 year design life for all elements of this project. All designs are to comply with relevant EU, UK and FI legislation.
