description
The verification process is a key part of our funding controls.
- Every contact that is listed on an application recommended for funding is required to go through our verification check process.
- The check helps to protect the Fund from the risk of fraud by checking that the contact listed on our application forms for funding exist and whether the contacts are listed on the national fraud database (Cifas).
- The person verification process is designed to look at whether anyone awarded National Lottery funding exist using key personal data from each contact (full name, date of birth and personal address) and checking this against external data bases (e.g., credit, electoral roll, birth register etc) to confirm their identity.
- The fraud check process looks at whether anyone awarded National Lottery funding is listed on the National Fraud database (Cifas) using key personal data from each contact (full name, date of birth and personal address) and checking this against the National Fraud database (Cifas).
- An API is used to link our grant management system (sales force) to the verification provider - this ensures that our check process gives an instant result, and our internal teams can use this information to make a more informed risk assessment before funding is awarded.
- We will need efficient round the clock support via email and telephone provided by the verification provider to address any check errors or issues that arise etc.
- Where there are issues with the check process, we will need to ensure the provider gives a full summary of what the issue was, what action was taken and what learning has come from the issue to ensure it doesn't re occur.
