Assessment and Enablement Units Pilot

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is commissioning a six-month Pilot project for 4 bed spaces within an established residential care home in Southend.

This is to provide a temporary period of assessment and enablement of people, either following a hospital admission or where there is a risk of hospital admission, who are unable to return directly to/remain at home due to requiring 24/7 assessment and enablement for a period of up to 14 days.

This will be with a view to improving mental and physical wellbeing and ability, and increasing independence and confidence in order to maximise personal independence whilst enabling a holistic assessment of any on-going support needs to enable each person to return home once able, to continue their recovery in a non-residential setting.

The Council is commissioning 4 bed spaces, and will continue to review demand throughout the term of the Pilot. However, there is a possibility that the requirement will increase during the term of the Pilot. The term of the Pilot is for six (6) months, with the option to extend by up to three (3) months.
