description

Birmingham City Council (the Council) requires a supplier for the provision of a qualitative real-time listening project called The Price we can't Pay: Real-time community listening to understand the impact of the Cost-of-Living crisis on Birmingham's mental health and wellbeing.

This contract will be for a period of 6 months commencing 01 02 2023 until 01 08 2023 with an indicative maximum budget up to ?55,000. The Council declared a Cost-of-Living crisis on 6th September 2023. As a local authority, the Council has taken a number of proactive steps to ensure the prompt support to our communities over the coming months.

We are looking for a consultancy/agency with experience in undertaking rapid qualitative research to set up a 4-month real-time community listening exercise, via video diary and written blogs, with participants from across Birmingham. With recruitment and report writing this project will be commissioned for 6 months in total.

Products to be delivered:

  • oWritten blogs every six weeks from some participants, to be hosted on the mental health pages of the Birmingham City Council website. Participants would work in partnership with the provider and the Council to edit these blogs and address any issues arising from these. These blogs will be of the participant's choice, to highlight issues that are important to them, under the broad heading of mental wellbeing
  • oParticipants are to be paid by the provider for contributing their insights and experience with a fair wage that is representative of their time required to produce the blog and video diary. The Council are to retain editorial control of the video content for use in the Council presentations and reports.
  • oAn End report collating the research and providing an overview of the project focussing on any specific recommendations and actions identified by the participants.
  • oWith guidance via the contract management meeting the provider will carry out a brief evaluation with the participants to understand how they have found the research, using the app etc. This will be included in the wider project evaluation.
