description

.Leicester City Council are looking for a supplier that would be able to deliver a walk to school project. The requirement to carry out this service is to reduce the numbers of children travelling to school by car causing congestion in the City and road safety problems around schools.

With a growing population in Leicester and its surrounding areas it is vital that the City Council does all it can to reduce the numbers of car trips being made in the City.

Walking is the most reliable, easy and healthy mode of travel. It?s free, environmentally friendly and provides opportunities for social interactions and family time.

Encouraging people to walk for journeys of three miles or less - which would include the majority of school run trips - will help reduce traffic congestion. At a stage when children form habits for life, walking to school should be a positive and natural choice for children and their families.
