Pevensey Floating Pennywort Control - continuation of contract for removal.

Floating Pennywort is an aggressive aquatic alien weed which has infested Pevensey Levels SSSI, SAC and Ramsar site. The weeds presents a significant flood risk and endangers the protected site.

Effective control of the weed involved mechanical removal and chemical control. Control of the weed has been ongoing on Pevensey Levels for 4 years and is showing good results. This additional funding would allow ALL floating Pennywort outside of main rivers and Water Management Board ditches to be treated. (Environment Agency fund a programme to manage control on main rivers and Water Management Board ditches).
