description
Arden and GEM CSU on behalf of NHS South Warwickshire CCG have a requirement for the placement of a patient with complex mental health needs;
| a) | This patient is a young female with diagnoses of emotionally unstable personality disorder and anorexia nervosa. |
| b) | A number of the patient's mental health difficulties stem from a psychological base. |
| c) | The patient is currently being nursed on level four observations with two staff. This is due to increasing episodes of deliberate self-harm on the eating disorders unit, predominantly by means of inserting objects into her body. The patient has required regular medical and surgical intervention for this. |
| d) | In any stressful situation the patient reverts to using maladaptive coping strategies which put her physical and mental wellbeing at severe risk. |
| e) | The patient has a history of absconsion attempts, and therefore requires rapid and secure transportation services. |
The CCG is seeking an inpatient therapeutic treatment programme, which provides a high level of supervision and support specifically to address self-harming behaviours and eating disorder whilst psychotherapeutic work is undertaken. This is expected to encompass work on affect regulation, self-compassion, managing her relationships with others, transferring these skills to independent living. The aim is to reduce the overall observations in order to progress through therapeutic work and be able to support her to increasing independence.
