KIRTLEY BUILDING ALTERATION & REFURBISHMENT WORKS - KEDLESTON ROAD CAMPUS

The project involves the creation of new teaching spaces and the refurbishment of the existing changing facilities to provide improved facilities for cyclists.

It should be noted that the building within which the site is situated will be remain operational throughout the early stages of the contract period, and as such bidders should make allowances for carrying out noisy or disruptive works outside normal working hours. Furthermore, the University transport department will be temporarily sited within the Reception area for the duration of the works, and will remain operational throughout the contract – this means that staff and some students will be accessing this area to collect/drop off pool cars.

The works are located at the University of Derby Kedleston Road campus.

The work is to be completed in two distinct phases to allow for the space to be used for examination resits mid-way through the construction phase.

Phase 1: To comprise as a minimum the strip out and minor demolition works required, laying of new carpets, blocking up of openings, fitting of temporary doors (if permenant doors not available) and decorations – to be completed by no later than 2nd June 2016.

Phase 2: Completion of all outstanding works, including installation of AV, suspended ceilings, operable walls, M&E alterations etc to be commenced on 26th June with completion no later than 16th August.

Should the Contractor feel that more works can be completed safely and comfortably within Phase 1 this will be considered by the Employer.
