description

Enable MALDI experiments to be conducting on our existing system Q Exactive Plus Mass spectrometer.

We believe there is a sole supplier(R Analytical Ltd. is the manufacturer that supplies a compatible system.) who can provide such item, therefore, we are using this portal to confirm the same.

What the MALDI does is offers is the opportunity to observe the location of any induced changes to tissue biomarkers that would be lost using traditional methods. This will be very useful for current exposure studies using carbon nanotubes. Over the past year or so we have employed laser ablation-ICPMS for determining the tissue distribution of metal containing nanomaterials which has proven to be extremely useful. However, such an approach for carbon nanomaterials is less/not effective because of the high carbon content of tissues and because ICPMS is an elemental analysis technique. MALDI-HRMS however will allow similar mapping of distributions to be undertaken because it is a soft ionisation technique leaving the nanomaterials intact and as such can be targeted based upon their mass to charge ratio
