description
Walsall Council is looking for a suitably experienced and qualified organisation to deliver a borough wide service to bereaved adults living in Walsall who require support. The service will provide caring and sensitive support to promote well being and independence. The support offered will be appropriate to the needs of the bereaved person, with the purpose of enabling the person to adapt to their new situation and support them to return to a similar level of functioning prior to their bereavement
The service will be prevention focused; it will be required to:
| • | Provide telephone support to all referrals to help ‘normalise’ the thoughts and feelings and in some cases the physical symptoms that they may be experiencing as a result of their loss. For some referrals this may be all the support that is required. |
| • | Provide up to 6 bereavement support sessions, where referrals require more time to reflect on their loss experience to enable the bereaved person to adapt to their situation whilst helping them to return to a similar level of functioning to that which they experienced prior to their bereavement. |
| • | Provide specialist interventions for a smaller number of people experiencing a more complex or complicated grief reaction. |
All referrals will be triaged to effectively assess the level of support required and promote independence.
