The Ministry of Justice is seeking expressions of interest from suppliers for the provision of Fresh Bread and Morning Goods to all public sector and in-scope private sector prisons in England and Wales. This supply is critical to the prison service who feed over 80,000 prisoners as well as prison staff and visitors. Suppliers must be able to provide a core range of bread products and have the ability to deliver products on a national basis. Products must also comply with all relevant food safety legislation.
Prison kitchens are within the prison gates and therefore deliveries must be operated in line with strict securityand other prison policies.
The estimated cost per year of this contract is £2.3mil.
The purpose of this notice is to:
- (i)inform the market of a prospective contract opportunity in connection with the supply of fresh bread and morning goods; and
- (ii)request information that may be relevant to the procurement strategy and may be adopted by the Ministry of Justice.
The next stage of the process is to seek input from potential suppliers, either through supplier days or by questionnaire.
