description

Highways England (the Client) is seeking the provision of services to undertake research into the testing of road marking and road stud products for use in the UK. The research will focus on:

  • An international and UK literature review of the current requirements for the testing of road markings and road studs;
  • Investigation into, and comparison of, the advantages and disadvantages of laboratory testing versus on-road testing of products; and
  • Consideration of key factors associated with the testing of products, including (but not limited to) legislative requirements, safety risk, cost and robustness of test results.

The outcome of the research will include recommendations as to how testing of road marking and stud products should be managed in a future revision of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and/or the Manual Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).
