description

Highways England, and previously the Highways Agency, has been operating its current skid resistance policy since 2004. The successful operation of this policy requires the development, calculation and application of 'correction factors' to remove the effects of seasonal variation from skid resistance data collected by the annual skid resistance surveys.

The overall objective of this work package is to facilitate the implementation, and of the Standard, specifically to achieve:

The provision of robust survey data, whereby the effect of location referencing errors and the impact of seasonal variation in skid resistance are minimised as far as practicable.
