The purpose of the Independent Visitor Scheme Medway Council, in line with the requirements of the Children Act 1989; Human Rights Act 1998, Care Standards Act 1999 Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and Children Act 2004 aim to offer support to vulnerable Looked After children and young people up to the age of 18, with trained volunteer independent visitors to visit, advise and befriend those who have little or no contact with parents or family.
