Stonebridge Gardens Landscaping

A detailed design for Stonebridge Gardens has been completed following on from an extensive period of community consultation. The scheme focuses on the provision of older children’s play opportunities (as this is a conditional use of the Section 106 funding which is integral to the project).

The design is characterised by the provision of a new central active area (replacing the existing large and unused tarmac area at the centre of the park), re-surfacing of existing areas to create a new civic space and the provision of pop-up services for planned events/markets in the area adjacent to the Overground station.

In terms of play opportunities, the active zone contains informal goals for ball games, a basketball hoop and dedicated space for three table tennis tables.

The scheme also contains a significant overhaul to the park’s planting scheme, including the provision of fourteen new trees and extensive shrub replacement. The design has been developed by Jon Sheaff & Associates and is tailored to ensure an ongoing reduction on the levels of parks maintenance required, lowering ongoing burdens on Council revenue streams.

A main contractor is now needed to undertake the works.
