Safeguarding Children and Young People on the Autistic Spectrum from Radicalisation

We require a training provider who can demonstrate expertise in autism, radicalisation and extremism, as well as, a sound understanding of current statutory requirements around safeguarding, including the Prevent duty. You would need to provide a practical and interactive training package, including case examples to meet the following outcomes:

The training will be aimed at practitioners who support the safeguarding of children and young people from radicalisation and extremism and overall Prevent duty implementation in schools, further and higher education institutions.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:

We require a bespoke training package on safeguarding children and young people on the autistic spectrum from radicalisation to be delivered to 50-70 delegates. The delegates have a good understanding of how autism presents itself in individuals, safeguarding in neurotypical children and young people, as well as, radicalisation and extremism risks and threats to individuals.

This training would therefore need to encourage delegates to understand the relationship between radicalisation and individuals on the autistic spectrum.

Style of Training:

The DfE requires training to be as practical and interactive as possible. The delegates in receipt of this training have indicated that case studies and tangible resources are most beneficial.

The Due Diligence and Counter Extremism Division in the Department for Education work across the Prevent, Counter Extremism and Integration policies, aiming to not only ensure effective safeguarding responses to radicalisation in the sector, but also looking to build resilience to extremist narratives in the first place. The division works with practitioners in local authorities who are the main beneficiaries of this training package.
