description

NHS England West Midlands wishes to conduct a Market Engagement Exercise with potential providers for the provision of a Child Health Information Service (CHIS). The aim of the service is to ensure that each child in the West Midlands has an active care record, supporting delivery of screening, immunisation and the healthy child programme services. The primary purpose of CHIS is to manage data and statistical information which supports the provision of public health services to children and young people aged 0-19 including: Health Visiting, School Nursing/5-19 Healthy Child Programme services, Looked After Children (LAC), immunisation teams and primary care. This includes recording notifications of new births and babies moving into the area, requesting records, updating the child health information system with movements in and out, and managing school health records, public health intelligence support and record transfers. The CHIS plays a critical role in the local delivery of the national antenatal and newborn screening, immunisation programmes and in the collection, reporting and distribution of other child health data and information in a timely and efficient manner.

Further information is detailed within the draft CHIS Service Specification available under the ‘Documents’ section below.

Please note this is purely a market assessment exercise to gather views on potential models of provision and on the tendering process. The subsequent procurement will be advertised separately and all organisations wanting to participate will need to respond to the procurement advertisement as and when published. The responses received during the market analysis exercise will not be taken into account in any future evaluation process as part of the formal procurement process.

Although not compulsory parties who are interested in taking part in this exercise are invited to complete a market questionnaire. All parties that express an interest will be invited to a bidder engagement event which will be held in Worcestershire on 10th June 2015 to help contribute further to this market review and where further information on the project will be made available.
