description

Norwich City Council is looking to work with a contractor to upgrade, an existing hard surface bredon gravel path, which is reaching the end of its life; improving access for pedestrians and cyclists. The path is located on Earlham Millennium Green, a local open green space, used by the local community, by the River Yare in West Earlham off between the Earlham Road and Bevan Close. The path is part of the Yare Valley Walk providing a link onto Earlham Marshes and across to Earlham Park

The objectives of this project are as follows:

  • to improve the existing access for a variety of users: dog walkers, cyclists and members of the public using it as a link between the UEA, West Earlham and Bowthorpe areas.
  • to resolve - mud, drainage and water run off issues along the length of the path
  • to make the site more “user” friendly
  • to create a sustainable path surface, which won’t be expensive to maintain
  • to create a tarmac path with an asphalt and golden pea dressing surface suitable for the location
