description

The Audience Research & Advocacy team is looking to appoint an audience research consultant to conduct front end research for the Railway Futures Gallery [working title].

The gallery is currently under development, set to open at the National Railway Museum (NRM) in York in 2025. It will form a permanent part of Central Hall - a new welcome building at the heart of Vision 2025, the museum's masterplan, the largest redevelopment in the museum's history.

Contemporary and changing, the Railway Futures Gallery will explore the future of railways and inspire visitors to see engineering, technological innovation and all aspects of railway operations as a key part of their future. The 800m2 gallery will have a mix of permanent collection objects mixed with changing, temporary displays, compelling people stories and cutting-edge digital and immersive experiences. The gallery will be successful if it can tap into the dynamic and forward-facing world of railway futures and inspire visitors with its ambition and reach.

We are interested in establishing what our potential audiences know and think about railways of the future, and are seeking feedback on our initial ideas and ambitions.
