DEFRA/STFC Policy Placement Fellowship in Data Science

The Policy Statement Fellowship scheme is a new initiative to enable members of STFC's community to be seconded to work closely with policymakers within government. The purpose of the fellowship is to help to develop Defra's capacity to exploit data science for policy making. The Fellow will be based in the Defra Environmental Analysis Unit and will work to deliver the following objectives:

1. To help establish Defra's data science activities on sound scientific advice
2. To support work of the Science Advisory Council's data sub group
3. To identify existing and potential areas of alignment between Defra and STFC objectives to achieve long-term benefits for both parties
4. To maximise exploitation of Earth Observation (EO) data
