description

NHS Shared Business Services, on behalf of Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT), is seeking information from providers which will be used to refine the service specification and procurement approach for the provision of Renal Services.

Renal Services in Greater Manchester are provided on a managed network basis, (East and West sectors). This RFI relates to the services provided in the East Sector. The Main Renal Unit (MRU) for the East Sector is based at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), from the MRI nephrology services are provided to North, South and Central Manchester, Tameside & Glossop, Stockport, South Trafford and East Cheshire (population 1.4 million).

The subject of this RFI is the provision of dialysis services from six satellite dialysis centres, currently located at:

Macclesfield
Altrincham
Tameside
Prestwich
North Manchester
Central Manchester

The staff, estates and equipment requirements are described within the RFI and vary at each site. The varied requirements may be best met through either a managed or outsourced service.

A major part of the proposal is that a new satellite site for central Manchester is established to provide dialysis services for patients that could be supported in a local satellite dialysis facility and who do not require the intensive support provided by the MRI hub. Additionally, new facilities are required in North Manchester.

A patient-centred clinical model will give patients the utmost opportunity to have control over their dialysis. Patient empowerment and enablement will be central to the provision of dialysis services, with a greater proportion of patients taking more control of their dialysis therapy.

The aim of the service is to de-institutionalise haemodialysis care and to provide patients with the opportunity to control as much of their dialysis as they possibly can.

Please complete the attached RFI and send your response to chris_gough@nhs.net by 17.00 on Friday 11th March 2016.
