description

The University of York is making a procurement of a new firewall/security system for its external links. The University’s external link will shortly be upgraded necessitating an upgrade of the current firewall solution. The University also wishes to move from our current firewall to a “NextGen” solution including full threat prevention and detection capabilities.

The University wishes to buy a fully redundant system consisting of two firewalls in an active/passive HA configuration between two sites to run firewalling, IPS, anti-virus/malware/anti-bot detection. We are looking for a solution that will cope with our projected traffic levels (see below) and also allow for possible future expansion should we choose to use the devices for internal security segregation as well.

To allow for internal segregation the University also wishes to purchase two branch office firewalls. These are for firewalling only and must be fully integrated with the main system (including central management and logging) with a capacity of at least 350Mb/s in production.
