Consultancy Opportunity: Investigating the implications of a carbon tax on the food system.

This project seeks to investigate the implications of a potential carbon tax on the food system and what implementing it could mean for delivering a Just Transition - policy solutions for managing and mitigating impacts on consumers and producers.

One of proposed ways to limit greenhouse gas emissions and improve on the issue of climate change is to introduce a carbon tax on companies. Under a carbon tax, the government sets a price that emitters must pay for each ton of greenhouse gas emissions they emit. This however will have a knock-on effect on the food system and how we provide affordable food for all.

To this end, WWF wishes to contract a suitably experienced party that can co-ordinate a research paper that assesses the potential implications of a carbon tax on the food value chain in the UK and begin to explore policy and implementation solutions to ensure a just transition.
