description
Navy Command wishes to commission a suitably qualified and experienced Design Team to prepare a series of plans to re-design Leach Building, Navy Command Headquarters in line with "Smart Working" principles.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development describes Smarter Ways of Working as 'An approach to organising work that aims to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness in achieving job outcomes through a combination of flexibility, autonomy and collaboration, in parallel with optimising tools and working environments for employees.' Smart Working is essentially about people and culture change. It is about bringing about change in the way people work and empowering them to work in smarter ways to deliver better decision making, faster communications and greater collaboration across boundaries. 'The Way We Work' (TW3 for short) is the Cabinet Office led cross-departmental programme designed to help realise the Civil Service Reform Plan's aim of 'Creating a decent working environment for all staff, with modern workplaces enabling flexible working, substantially improving IT tools and streamlining security requirements to be less burdensome for staff'.
The requirement is to provide a variety of different working environments for the different types of activity, moving away from traditional desk bank layouts, and so improve productivity and promote smarter ways of working. We are seeking a Design Team with considerable knowledge and expertise in Smart Working principles and in realising the benefits of this approach.
