London Fields Summer Enforcement

The arrangement in relation to having a permanent BBQ area in London Fields has now been in place for five years (including the trial in 2011) and as the popularity of the area has developed and the Park has become more heavily used there has been a growing number of problems associated with it (and as a consequence an impact on local residents and other Park users).

Therefore in the summer of 2014 it was agreed that additional resources focussed on the BBQ areas management and monitoring would be put in place. This would allow a more informed decision to be made about whether the issues highlighted can be reduced / eliminated by better management.

A critical element of the additional resources that were to be focussed on the management and monitoring of London Fields was the provision of a dedicated London Fields Enforcement Team at weekends from April – September. It was originally planned that this team would be formed of dedicated Community Wardens recruited by the Safer Neighbourhoods Team, but this has not been possible and an external contractor is now required as was the case in 2014.
