description
Lancaster University is seeking to implement a technology solution to manage media content uploaded by and delivered to educators, learners, members of professional services and external audiences as appropriate.
At this stage we are inviting providers of media management systems and services to express their interest in engaging with the University. We want to implement a system that will help us help us meet our targets for providing technology enhanced learning in the coming years. There is a need to use media as part of the learning process especially for our distance learners. Students and educators need a simple way to upload media to a secure storage location and have those media assets play back on all devices through different applications to different audiences. This will require a system that is accessible, flexible, resilient, secure and device agnostic. The key areas for focus are accessibility, performance and seamless, extensible integration with other systems such as the University’s Virtual Learning Environment. Some of the functionality considered to be highly important includes intuitive user interfaces, authentication management, file upload, automatic transcoding, file download and playback on different types of device, comprehensive search tools, resilient secure storage, support and highly effective Business Intelligence capability.
If you believe your organisation can help us by providing appropriate systems and services, we would ask for a short paper (two pages max.) describing what you could offer and providing some indication of cost by Friday 15th October. We also welcome the prospect of discussing the opportunity with you and encourage you to contact us
