Mechanical & Electrical, Structural Engineering, Architectural and Related Design Services for the ISTEC [Interdisciplinary Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics Technology and Engagement Centre] New Build comprising for the following Lots:- Lot 1 - Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Services [Lead Consultant].
Lot 2 - Architectural Design Services.
Lot 3 - Structural Engineering Services.
The new build Interdisciplinary STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics] Teaching and Engagement Centre (ISTEC) will provide additional high quality laboratories in the form of an extension to Rosalind Franklin Building (RFB).
ISTEC will contain co-located laboratories for all STEM disciplines devoted to project work of undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, enabling further exploration of strong STEM inter- and multi- disciplinary ethos and incorporating embedded outreach and employer/industry engagement facilities.
Establishment of ISTEC will enable students to;
- oWork across STEM discipline interfaces.
- oEngage in increased technical, team-working and industry relevant activities through industry led projects, thereby increasing industry ready skills and knowledge.
- oExperience a seamless transition between university learning and employment, enhancing employability and future industry university collaborations.
Nottingham Trent University is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by reducing energy consumption. It is expected therefore that ISTEC’s design should reflect the University’s commitment to energy reduction.
Net construction cost is expected to fall between £5M to £7M GBP
