description
We are seeking a supplier to identify and review research work that specifically falls within this description which is being undertaken by public bodies, research institutions and charitable organisations across the UK, so that we can ensure that whatever new research we may commission in the next 2 years is complementary to and where possible takes account of recent and current research activity. There are three specific objectives:
- A.To understand what research activity is ongoing which directly relates to improving adaptation options
- B.To understand what research activity is ongoing which directly relates to threats and risks to heritage both from climate change itself and from our responses to climate change
- C.To understand which organisations are funding such work as is covered by A and B.
Within the definition, we are particularly interested in the following areas of research:
- i.Research developing models and assessing long-term impacts of climate change on heritage
- ii.Research on the impact on heritage of flooding and coastal erosion and our responses to these.
- iii.Research on climate change and its potential impact on intangible heritage
- iv.Research to inform best practice methods of maintenance, repair and adaptation (and maladaptation) of the historic building stock, including retrofit and energy performance, to meet challenges of climate change
- v.Research on heritage, embodied carbon comparative carbon accounting in relation to historic assets
- vi.Research on the role of historic land- and sea-scapes in carbon sequestration and offsetting
