The Lightning Delivery Team (LDT) part of Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) within the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), hereafter referred to as the Authority, is seeking to understand the market for a high access capability/ platform to maintain a safe working environment whilst personnel conduct paint and finish activities on the whole Aircraft. The Authority seeks advice as well as information from Industry on best practice and appropriate access staging, for the safe painting of Aircraft.
The Authority is seeking answers to the following questions where possible.
- What is best practice for ensuring Work at Height risks are minimised while ensuring optimal mobility of users to carry out painting tasks?
- Are any Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) solutions available that are used on multiple aircraft types?
- Where exact dimensions of the Aircraft are not releasable due to security considerations how would a Supplier develop a compliant solution?
- What information would be required from the Authority to enable the design a of a solution?
- Are estimated prices for a compliant solution able to be shared with the Authority?
The Authority is seeking responses to these questions by 29/03/2024.
