description

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering has secured funding from the UK Enginerring and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to establish the EPSRC Manufacturing Hub for Future Electrical Machines in partnership with the universities of Newcastle and Strathclyde. This funding includes provision to establish some key facilities in support of the research programme of the Hub. The specific facility being sought in this tender will provide a means of measuring hysteresis characteristics and AC core loss of soft magnetic material samples. It will be used almost entirely for the characterisation of laminated electrical steels (SiFe, CoFe and NiFe) for use in electrical machines and not high frequency cores for power supplies etc. Hence, medium frequency measurements of core loss (up to 1kHz) will cover the overwhelming majority of potential usage. It will be used almost exclusively for research purposes and not for offering commercial measuring services. A key use will be for evaluating the effect of electrical machine manufacturing methods on core loss.

This is an Non-OJEU open exercise. The ITT can be downloaded by registering and expressing your interest on the University`s e-tendering system https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield

If you have any questions or comments in relation to this tender they must be submitted via the In-tend System, this can be accessed at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield
