Croydon CCG is seeking information from providers of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) services which it will use to help refine its commissioning approach and inform the development of its service specification.

Croydon CCG is engaging early with potential service providers for an intermediate Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) service.

The aim of this exercise is to gauge interest in this opportunity and field for innovative or competitive proposals to improve our local provision. Feedback from the market will help determine our procurement strategy including whether a competitive procurement process is appropriate.

Local Context

NHS Croydon PCT (now CCG) commissioned a community based “one-stop shop” Intermediate ENT service in 2013, via two Any Qualified Provider (AQP) contracts.

The Intermediate ENT service is to provide:

Triage of all ENT GP referrals (currently done by CHS); and
Diagnosis and treatment for non-urgent, benign ENT conditions.

The consultant-led Intermediate ENT service treats:

Otalgia
Otorrhoea
Aural Toilet
Otitis Externa
Otitis Media
Impacted ear wax removal
Perforation of eardrum
Mastoid cavities requiring evaluation and toileting
Tinnitus
Dizziness/vertigo
Nasal blockage ± facial pain
Nasal polyps
Chronic Rhinitis
Nose Bleeds (Epistaxis)
Glue ear
Snoring
Globus (no suspicion of cancer intermittent, non smoker, no weight loss)
Intermittent hoarseness >3 weeks

The total contract value for 14-15 was roughly £160k.

Responses should be provided as a single document and should not exceed 2,500 words. Submissions in excess of this word limit may not be read. All submissions will be treated confidentially.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on 12 February 2016.
