description
Bewick Bridge Community Primary School is a 2 Form Entry (2FE) mixed primary school with pupils aged between 4-11 years. The school is located within Church End, a suburb of Cambridge. The works are being delivered by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) as part of the Priority Schools Building Programme 2.
The intention of this project is to undertake a medium refurbishment of Block EFAA. Block EFAA is a one storey block for the Nursery and Infant school as well as the main reception, office space and the school's kitchen and main hall.
In summary the scope of refurbishment works includes the repair and replacement of windows, internal and external doors, rainwater goods as well as full replacement of pitched and flat roof coverings. The external timber cladding shall be replaced with new. Floor finishes and ceilings shall be replaced and, in some places, repaired. WC units, sanitary ware and tiling shall be stripped out and replaced. Internal and external redecoration is required including repointing of brickwork in some areas. Light fittings and emergency light fittings shall be replaced throughout the block and some service penetrations require fire stopping. Asbestos has been identified within some of the building and must be removed where disturbed by the works.
The school is to remain open for the duration of the works. The project is planned to commence on site in February 2019.
This will be a JCT Design & Build Contract using the JCT DB11 with Schedule of Amendments with a Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) adopted. The contractor will be responsible for all aspects of design to progress the Control Option and associated Planning and Building Control Approvals and the subsequent construction.
The ESFA are using the e-Tendering Portal AWARD to manage this procurement. The invitation documents will be posted on the AWARD portal on 17-05-2018. To gain access to AWARD, bidders will be required to email the appointed Administrator of AWARD Lisa Cummings (lisa.cummings@education.gov.uk) and Pablo Espinosa Almenara (Pablo.espinosaalmenara@arcadis.com), no more than two e-mail addresses. Once submitted you will be sent a link to the AWARD log-in page along with a password, which should be changed immediately. Further instructions on using AWARD will be provided in the ITT documents as posted on AWARD.
A Pre-Qualification assessment is part of the assessment and will be assessed via a Pass/Fail Criteria. If already registered with Constructionline, contractors should provide the registration details via the AWARD portal. This will negate the requirement to complete the Pre-Qualification questions, however if you are not registered the questions will be required to be completed.
The selection criteria will be based on Qualitative Assessment which provides 60% of the total score; this will focus on the clear demonstration of suitable understanding and experience in the development and delivery of education projects
Additional information: A Bidders' Day is being held at 12:00 pm on 28.5.2018 at Bewick Bridge Community Primary School to provide further information about the Scheme (time is subject to change).
