The Department for Education (DfE) is responsible for supporting improvement in Local Authorities, as part of interventions, in response to failure or weakness in the provision of children’s social care services. The Department sees considerable value in drawing down external expertise, from various sectors, to support local authorities in these circumstances. This procurement offered the successful bidder an opportunity to drive improvement in Dudley Metropolitan Council - an underperforming local authority children’s social care service and ensure vulnerable children receive a higher quality service.
