description
The purpose of this Prior Information Notice (PIN) is to notify the market that the Department intends to hold a market engagement event on 23rd March 2022 at 10:30. The purpose of this market engagement event is to gain an understanding of the latest developments in the provision of extracurricular enrichment activities to schools. The notice is intended as an information-gathering exercise. It is not being used as a call for competition.
The Department for Education is committed to ensuring young people have access to high quality clubs, competitions, and activities. We know these are an important part of a rich educational experience and can bring wider benefits to young people's mental health, confidence, social skills and general wellbeing.
Schools are best placed to understand and meet the needs of their pupils and have flexibility to decide what range of extra-curricular activities to offer to their pupils. We know many schools do so in partnership with external activity providers.
The DfE is to hold a virtual market engagement event at 10:30 on 23rd March 2022, providing an opportunity for extracurricular enrichment sector organisations to feed into our work to assess the current state of extracurricular provision, and to seek expert views from the sector to inform future work in this space.
After this event, the DfE is offering 30-minute one-to-one discussions for interested organisations to provide additional feedback. These sessions will be structured and are available on the following dates:
| - | 10:30am- 12 on 20th April 2022 |
| - | 10:30am- 12 on 27th April 2022 |
| - | 10:30am- 12 on 4th May 2022 |
Details of this meeting will be sent to interested parties following registration.
