National Highways (the Client) is seeking the provision of services to undertake a research into the following two areas:

  • Road markings for digital roads
  • Carbon emissions in traffic signs, road markings and studs

The objective of this work order is to undertake research to:

  • determine the road marking performance necessary for the effective operation of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) and their associated safety systems such as the automated lane keeping system.
  • better understand the impact that traffic signs, road markings and studs have on our carbon footprint, and to seek opportunities to reduce carbon through improvements in materials, manufacturing processes and plant to support the National Highways net zero Carbon Plan.
