004727 - Newcastle Young Carers Service

We are looking to procure a city wide Young Carers service which will deliver a range of Young Carer functions. The new specification includes the identification and assessment of Young Carers up to the age of 25 and will provide interventions aimed at reducing the need for caring roles undertaken by Young people and support to Young Carers which will maximize their potential to achieve good outcomes. The Children and Families Act 2014 confers new duties on local authorities in relation to Young Carers and sets out the requirements for the identification and assessment of Young people undertaking caring roles which may impact on their wellbeing. The service will be commissioned to meet the needs of the Local Authority in relation to the Newcastle joint strategy for Young Carers, The Children and Families Act 2014, The Children and Young Peoples Plan and the requirements of Newcastle Safeguarding Children's Board. The new service will be commissioned for two years with an option to extend for a further 12 months and will replace the existing mixed funding regimes that are in place for different Young Carers provision in the city.
