Description:
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets (The Council) is looking for an appropriate organisation with experience, innovation and flexible strategies, to provide support to families of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to help them to meet the needs of their children, including behaviour management and communication.
The Service Provider shall deliver a service which meets the needs of 300 families per year. As a minimum, the service will include:
Face to face contact with families after diagnosis of their child, to discuss their needs and concerns
Information and advice to help families learn more about ASD and gain confidence in meeting their childs needs
Information about local services, appropriate to the needs of the family
Ongoing telephone support if needed
A lending library of books on ASD and related topics
Quarterly workshops, including a post-diagnosis workshop with provision of a crche facility, and additional quarterly workshops on topics which respond to families concerns, questions and shared experiences A monthly Stay and Play session, facilitated in partnership with the Councils Disabled Childrens Outreach Service (DCOS)
Regular parent support groups, delivered on a locality basis, and used to develop peer support networks
Family outings for isolated families
The provision of information in community languages, by having interpreters available.
The anticipated contract start date is: Wednesday, 01 April 2015
