The contract is for a new Integrated Health Improvement and Behaviour Change Service for Southampton. Theservice will replace a number of previously commissioned services including Smoking Cessation, Health Trainer,and Health Promotion Services.
The service will play a key role in supporting health improvement and behaviour change across Southampton’shealth and care system and delivery of Southampton’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The Service Provider isexpected to work closely with Southampton City Council’s Public Health Team to provide health improvementleadership and expertise, and advocate public health principles and action to improve health and wellbeing andreduce health inequalities across the city.

The new service will provide evidence based health improvement and behaviour change interventions that helptackle a range of behaviours including ‘increasing risk’ or ‘higher risk’ alcohol consumption; poor diet and eatingpatterns which lead to overweight and obesity; lack of physical activity; and smoking.
The Service Provider will take a wellness approach that goes beyond looking at single lifestyle issues andinstead aims to take a whole-person, whole-family and community approach to improving health. Outcomes willthus be achieved through individual behaviour change and interventions that build community and workforcecapacity for health, wellbeing and resilience.
