Invitation to Tender for Public Research 2025-2026

The GDC desire to undertake research that will capture public voice and are evidence-informed, with the aim of understanding the public’s demand for, experiences of, views about and their confidence in dental care, and to understand: a.What factors are affecting the supply and demand of dental services and what their impact is on the availability of and access to dental care.

b.What the public’s experiences and views tell us about their confidence, safety, demand for services and future intentions.

The overarching aim of the research with the public is to maintain and build on public voice in the evidence that informs GDC activity, the objectives of the research are for the public research are:

• To understand the factors that affect public safety and confidence in the dental industry;
• To understand the factors that affect the public’s choices about their dental health (frequency and type of use);
• To understand the factors that affect the public’s access to services that they need;
• To explore the public’s confidence in the sector, including regulation
• To, where possible and useful, continue to measure change over time, comparing with our three previous research sweeps with the public;
• To inform the GDC’s new corporate strategy.
