Hampshire and Isle of Wight (HIOW) Integrated Care System has an ageing population. However, HIOW rates are higher than the national average with 22% of the population being over 65 compared to 18.6% for England. HIOW have the sixth oldest population as an ICS nationally.
The Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) service provides structured, evidence-based group therapy to support people living with mild to moderate stages of a dementia. The program consists of themed activities designed to actively stimulate and engage individuals, while promoting social interaction and cognitive function. It is currently the only non-drug treatment recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for mild to moderate dementia.
The aims of the service are:

| • | Enhance communication and social interaction. |
| • | Delay the inevitable progression of dementia |
| • | Support individuals to remain active, engaged, and independent for as long as possible |
