Provision of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) through primary care in West Northamptonshire

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) has a statutory responsibility to commission sexual and reproductive health services. WNC is in the process of entering into a partnership arrangement to deliver our Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Service.

To supplement the Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Service, WNC is seeking to commission the provision of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) through primary care. The aim of this is to ensure that people can make informed choices about their methods of contraception and have easy access to a full range of options to prevent unplanned pregnancy.

The opportunity comprises two parts:

LARC Component A - Contraceptive Subdermal Implants (SDI)

LARC Component B - Intrauterine Contraception (IUC)

Providers can deliver component A and/or component B. West Northamptonshire Council would prefer providers to deliver both components at scale to support equitable provision and efficiency.

West Northamptonshire Council will offer contracts to all providers that meet all requirements in relation to the provision of the relevant health care services to patients, based on this notice.

The contract ends on 31st March 2028.

This process is being carried out in accordance with the procedure for 'Direct Award Process B' under Regulations 6 and 8 of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.
