Northern Ireland Water and Northern Ireland Water Alpha (which is a Subsidiary of Northern Ireland Water Limited) are seeking expressions of interest from suppliers who currently deliver these services or are interested in delivering these services in the future. .

NI Water currently produces approximately 22,627 tonnes per year of Water Treatment Works (WTWs) Residuals (EWC 190902). This is produced at the following NI Water and NI Water Alpha sites:-

NI Water Sites:-

-Altnahinch 1,190 tonnes

-Carmoney 1,140 tonnes

-Caugh Hill 998 tonnes

-Derg 1,649 tonnes

-Dorisland 1,568 tonnes

-Drumaroad 2,850 tonnes

-Fofanny 1,386 tonnes

-Glenhordial 241 tonnes

-Lough Bradan 1,545 tonnes

-Lough Fea 661 tonnes

-Lough Macrory 607 tonnes

-Seagahan 792 tonnes

NI Water Alpha Sites:-

-Ballinrees 800 tonnes

-Castor Bay 3,200 tonnes

-Dunore Point 4,000 tonnes

NI Water has in place a contract for the disposal of Water Treatment Work Residuals which expires on 31st October 2022 and an NI Water Alpha contract for the recycling/disposal of Water Treatment Work Residuals which expires on 30th November 2022. .

NI Water are planning to hold a supplier engagement session in July/August 2022 to determine if there are potential innovative disposal / recycling options for our Water Treatment Work Residuals.

An expression of interest for this session can be made in response to this PIN by emailing sourcing@niwater.com (FAO Manus O’Kane and Shannon Whelan). Expressions of interest are to be received no later than 1.00pm on Friday 15th July 2022. .

Following the receipt of expressions of interest, NI Water will be in contact with suppliers in due course, to set out details of the supplier engagement session. The engagement session will provide interested suppliers with the opportunity to obtain further information relating to NI Water and NI Water Alpha’s requirements and will also provide NI Water the opportunity to obtain feedback from the market. .

The purpose of this market engagement exercise will also help NI Water select the best procurement strategy to deliver these services going forward.
