description

The Environmental Agency requires United Utilities to consistently undertake analysis of Wastewater samples from various sample points across the region which is located in the North West of England.

Network Owners, Trade Effluent Officers, Wastewater Operatives and project staff collect the samples which require analysis.

United Utilities need to purchase consumables in order to undertake chemical oxygen demand (COD) test analysis of Waste water.

COD is a water quality measure used not only to determine the amount of biologically active substances such as bacteria but also biologically inactive organic matter in waste water treatment, the COD is an important measurement for the amount of oxygen that is required to break down pollutants (organic substances) in water.

This analysis is to be used for regulatory compliance providing results for United Utilities Waste Water Treatment Works which are to be sent to the Environment Agency to measure ongoing compliance.
