description

This is a prior information notice (PIN) only: Publication and a call for competition will be conducted once the scope of work is fully defined and approved.

Better Lives for Somali Women and Children will focus on Somalia (and Somaliland) to reduce high rate of preventable death, combat cross-border threats of infectious diseases and create lasting health benefits for some of the world’s most vulnerable women and children. The FCDO will work with the Somali Government to use the entry of the World Bank (WB) and its Global Financing Facility (GFF) to create a more efficient coordinated approach with key partners including the Global fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM) and Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisations (GAVI) to: i) extend access to an essential package of reproductive, maternal and child health services; ii) effectively promote healthy behaviours and demand for services; and iii) strengthen the health system at all levels including government stewardship of coordination and efficient resource management and delivery. UNICEF will be the fund management agent implementing the service delivery, and demand creation and behaviour change components.
