description

Barnsley Council is seeking Providers who will supply three x 10 Day Training courses focusing on preparing participants to secure work in the Hospitality and Visitor Economy sector. The training programme must be suitable for unemployed and economically inactive residents of the Barnsley area. The 10-day programme will be followed by a Work Experience Placement within the sector (to be arranged through Barnsley Council staff). Training should be undertaken within a venue within the Barnsley area which is accessible to all individuals using public transport as their mode of travel. It is expected that the training will be delivered across 10 working days (Monday-Friday) for a minimum of 5 hours per day. Online learning can be utilised to enhance the offer, but the project must not be solely online as participants will be required to evidence they can work with others, as they would within the Hospitality sector. The purpose of the training is to support unemployed or economically inactive individuals looking to enter a career, or progress a career change, into jobs of all types within Hospitality and Visitor Economy companies. The course should be designed to build/rebuild individuals' confidence, manage expectations and develop resilience whilst informing and raising career aspirations. The training programme should provide an overview of the sector and the variety and range of businesses and disciplines in the region from independent cafes to cultural businesses to larger scale visitor attractions. It should equip candidates with a knowledge and understanding of the attributes and skills already identified and expected by sector employers. Preparing them with the minimum standards essential in suitable job applicants so they are able to undertake a short work placement with a prospective employer.
